Special Solutions for Your Brake System Needs
Our staff knows that bringing a new vehicle to market – or improving the brake system on an existing product line – is a top priority for you, so it becomes a top priority for us.
Budgets are a reality for us, just as they are for you. You’ll find that Knott brakes are readily cost-justifiable because their
superior design and manufacture mean longer and more effective service life. That translates into less downtime and more productive uptime.
A good example of this is with an Ohio steel mill company. The challenge was to reduce spare part inventory and service intervals. These large machines – which can weigh more than 100,000 pounds when loaded shuttle around the mill up to 1,800 hours before a brake service is necessary.
This, in turn, saves time and money as the average brake service was cut from 2 hours per wheel down to just minutes.
The hub, brake rotor and drive sprockets are also machined at Knott Brake Company and a complete wheel end assembly is delivered to the customer. This is typical of how Knott addresses the customer concerns and works to provide a complete solution.
Value Analysis is what we do.
Knott Brake strives to provide our customers with high-value custom designed solutions. It is in our DNA to collaborate with our customers to design solutions that exceed performance requirements and help our customers achieve cost savings.
For example, while touring a leading manufacturer of industrial maintenance equipment Knott Brake was able to identify an opportunity to resolve a re-occurring and costly problem and reduce overall cost. Our engineers designed a custom solution that combined a high-cost weldment that was prone to failure and a brake into single high-strength and high-quality assembly. This example of our custom designed and value-engineered product helped our customer reduce part count, overall cost, and increase customer satisfaction.
Pictured bottom right is the complete assembly, the spindle is integral to the brake and when mounted to the machine not only functions as a brake but also as a structural part of the equipment.
